Boot from the SATA hard drive to ensure it works before removing data from the IDE hard drive. Configure your system to boot from the SATA hard drive. Use an appropriate TeraByte Unlimited product (e.g.Image for DOS, Image for Linux, Image Windows 10 driver download for Windows) to copy the contents of the IDE hard drive over to the SATA hard drive. If you are using Windows, it is imperative that the SATA controller and SATA hard drive are not displayed in Device Manager with a yellow exclamation point next to them.
Note – For Windows Server 2003, the default AHCI mode, which can be configured via the System BIOS, needs a boot driver. If configured for IDE mode, no boot driver is required for Intel SATA. Evaluate and select an installation method that meets the needs of your infrastructure. Use TABLE 2-1 to preview the installation process defined as a series of tasks.
